Welcome to Cow Creek Kennel. We are located in Chesapeake, Virginia. We hunt the waters of the Chesapeake Bay in Va. and the Currituck Sound in N.C.

Cow Creek Kennel was named after the creek that five generations of our family (Doxey, DeBaun, Whitehurst and O'Neal) have hunted. Cow Creek is a short (3/8 mile) brackish water creek located on the North Carolina -Virginia border and flows into the north end of the Currituck Sound.

We obtained our first American Water Spaniel in 2003 after many years of hunting with retrievers.  We chose this breed as a hunting companion because of changes in our hunting style and the smaller stature of this breed helped us during our transition.  This is an excellent multi-purpose breed you can duck hunt with in the morning and go upland hunting in the afternoon.  The American Water Spaniel can withstand cold water temperatures and retrieve anything from a dove to a goose.
